Education Governance Initiative
Supporting Listuguj Mi'gmaq in Reclaiming Their Education
Governance involves the worldviews, values, protocols and the management structures (i.e., mechanisms, processes, strategies, vision, mission) that community, or an organization, uses to make decisions and accomplish its goals.
Transformation involves respecting and centering Mi'gmaw knowledges, history, language, beliefs, in education programs, services, and policies, and carefully including Western theory and practices. Empowering people to make changes and try new ideas.
The Education Governance Initiative is being undertaken by a team made up of LETE staff. The staff receives guidance on educational governance from the Listuguj Council of Mi'gmaq Educators (LCME), and advisory body to LETE.
The governance team includes:
Lorna Sook - Director
Tammy Barnaby - Associate Director
Melissa Drapeau - In-Community Post- Secondary Officer
Amy Chamberlin - Research Associate
Kammy Vicaire - Communications & Engagement Manager
Hilary Barnaby - Technical Writer/Editor
